Island Discussion #24: Scorn

Hello everyone!

Let me just say that you are in for something very surprising today. What you are in for an interesting read on one particular villain that fascinates me. This enemy has an amazing history and an unknown, peculiar power that we should all fear. Have you heard of Scorn? He is a dastardly dragon that became king a long, long time ago when Club Penguin was separated into 5 kingdoms. All of these kingdoms lived in peace and harmony until one day…

Club Penguin Times #341 Legend of the Dark Dragon (Continued).png

Welcome to this week’s Island Discussion on someone very powerful. Some of us have met Scorn before as he returned to Club Penguin in 2012. He was seeking for one thing – revenge. If you look at the story above, it tells us the legend of the dark dragon, Scorn. It reads:

Long ago, there were five kingdoms that lived in harmony. Until one day, a terrible dragon arose from darkness, cursed the lands, and declared himself King. Before all was lost, a band of heroes united. With the legendary Thunder Blade, they struck down the dragon, banished him from the land, and restored peace. But the heroes gave a warning for all to hear: “Be on guard! For should this scornful dragon return… The Thunder Blade’s power is all but spent.” “You must forge a new weapon, or else our kingdoms are defenceless. Heed our warning friends, for darkness can rise again…”

This article was published in the Club Penguin Times #341 as the island prepared itself for the pre-annual Medieval Party. This party took place nearly 4 years ago so some of you in the community may have not been able to experience it. It was one of the best parties to have ever fallen on Club Penguin, in my opinion. This is because the Medieval Party was driven with a fantastic back story with lots of depth. What I showed you above is only one of many extracts that lead to the development of this evil character in Club Penguin.

Scorn has a lot of character. He has many stories that have been told and he has lived through many dark times, making him one of Club Penguin’s most darkest villains. You can almost deduce that Scorn is the most powerful villain in Club Penguin by looking at the last paragraph from the extract above. It was warned that “darkness can rise again” even though Scorn was defeated in this legend. He has a strange power that enables him to resurrect, by the sounds of it. Research has been drilled into this anomaly of a dragon but it is still unknown what drives Scorn’s power. However what we do know is that Garianna was responsible for this villain. Pretty ironic as it runs through Gary’s ancestry.

So if you have happened to collect the official Club Penguin magazines, you might have found another legend of Scorn. This particular one, though, actually informs us on how Scorn rose to power in the medieval ages. The only problem is that this story took the form of a comic strip so I have decided to translate it for you by writing the legend in my own words.

Island Discussion #23: Foreshadows

Hello everyone!

Welcome to this week’s Island Discussion. The discussion continues as we move on further with the Elite Penguin Force Handbook. After covering, in detail, lots of codes and discovering who this new recruit could be, it is now time to jump in a little deeper as we uncover secrets within the Elite Penguin Force Handbook. There are several secrets hidden and they all seem interesting. Let’s get to it!

A couple of pages in, on the Director’s profile page, there is a secret hidden. If you click on the exclamation mark – embedded within the EPF logo – it will come up with a fact. Throughout the whole handbook are hidden facts and rumours and the first one reads “In 2010, a popcorn explosion put the PSA HQ out of commission.” If you are an old member of the community, then you will remember this tragic event that occurred. This led to the development of the EPF and the Everyday Phoning Facility. This replaced the Sport Shop and the HQ however the EPF is much more advanced than the PSA so this was an advantage in the island’s secret agency history.

On Gary the Gadget Guy’s page, there is another secret hidden! Just hover his name, ‘G’, and it will turn red. Click and then a rumour will pop up onto the page. This one is interesting. It reads “An invention may allow Skip, the evil bellhop, to reappear.” It looks like that we may have to encounter once of our latest villains again. Even though this is just a rumour, it seems likely for it to happen. This is because Gary has a long, long history in which has been known by many people that once he begins an invention, it will end up malfunctioning – therefore putting the island, once again, at risk. It has happened to Ultimate Protobot 10,000, the Test Botsa and the Mascbots. Other invention failures were not that extreme enough to put our lives at risk however they are just as significant as the rest of them. No offence Gary but you need to work on your skills! Anyway, what could this invention be? Maybe it is designed to convert ghosts into life forms. This would make sense since Gary may be attempting to bring his ancestors back to life. Otherwise, the invention could be tampered by the villains so that Skip can join forces with them. The possibilities of this mystery are endless. Until I can find some plausible evidence to relate to this rumour, I think that all we can do now is guess.

Island Discussion #22: Decipher

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to this week’s Island Discussion! In this post I will be focusing on the new Elite Penguin Force Handbook that arrived to the island in November. This handbook is packed with information on EPF agents and villains and I am very impressed by it. In my one of my previous Island Discussions, I was trying to find out who the new recruit was. My guess is that Franky is the new tech guru that has now joined the EPF. I hope that we can see him in action soon!

Anyway, today I will be going through all of the handbook to decrypt all of the codes. The EPF use a code called Tic-Tac-Toe and it has been used by the PSA, also. I am hoping that we will see more of these codes in future; preferably in an operation or around the island. Once I decode one, I will explore what it means and how it could have an impact on the future of Club Penguin. I hope you will enjoy!

The first code says “Maintain your cover”. This message is from the Director as it is on her page. I guess that this is an order to all EPF agents to stay secretive like herself. It shows that being an EPF agent requires stealth and responsibility so messing up would give away classified intel. This could hint for further attacks from the island’s most wanted criminals so stay sharp and listen to your orders.

The second code says “I miss the Sport Shop”. This message is located on Gary’s page and shows us that he misses his old job at the Sport Shop. Back in the old times, the Penguin Secret Agency had a secret base leading on from one of the changing rooms in the Sport Shop. Gary used to work there as a clerk at the counter. He was undercover and his job was to maintain responsibility over who was allowed to enter the PSA HQ. Obviously, Herbert blew it up in 2010 so the Sport Shop and the HQ was destroyed. This led to the evolution of the EPF! Loads of people miss the Sport Shop – like Gary – so this message may hint to a redesign of one coming later. Why put it there otherwise unless it was made to tease us, penguins?

The third code says “You did it! You found me!”. This message is from Dot and it is more like a joke than something important. Since Dot is a stealth agent and hides around a lot (it is part of her job after all), this message is like a representation of her and to decode it means that you have discovered what it says. I guess that it is quite funny to some people. Since it is just a silly little joke, there is nothing within it that could have an impact on the island in the future…DOT THE JOKER GAL CONFIRMED?

The fourth code says “Click Clickety Click!”. Rookie says this since it mentions that Rookie can speak fluent crab – which is a language that Klutzy can use. Rookie has used it a lot in the past. For example in previous PSA missions such as ‘Questions for a Crab’ and in the ‘System Defender’ game. Nobody really knows how he picked it up; it is just one of his wacky qualities of being Rookie. The translation from crab to english also remains unknown so we do not know at all what Rookie is saying. Let’s hope he is doing his job! Nothing in this message seems to have an impact on the island however it ties in with Klutzy and I have always wanted to know the back story of Rookie and how he became an agent and a fluent crab speaker. It’s a bit weird, don’t you think?

Island Discussion #21: New Recruit

Hello everyone!

Welcome to this Island Discussion. I am back with another season for everyone to enjoy. Club Penguin mysteries still remain on the island. Lots of them have been uncovered but new ones have opened up ever since the return of the Elite Penguin Force during ‘Operation: Crustacean’. I am excited for the future of the EPF, especially when they will make another return this month to conclude the current operation to restore the energy source within the UFO. Things will also get a little prehistoric once again!

Anyway, the main topic I would like to discuss today is the mysterious new agent that has been recruited with an anonymous identity. The reason behind his highly classified figure is his “public persona”. I would like you to take a look at this page.

New Recruit Page 1

At the top it says “Highly Classified Intel”. Already, we have the impression that this figure is very secretive and we get an explanation of this at the bottom. Their “public persona” suggests that this newly recruited agent is already popular, publicly. Therefore, this penguin is likely to be a famous penguin! But which one? We will find out soon.

It also lets us know that this penguin’s status is active which means that they have already begun to get involved with EPF operations. So this implies that the new recruit has already begun their work within Operation: Crustacean. However there have been no reports of this new recruit on the scene…so far!
